Professor Juan j. Rodriguez Andina from the University of Vigo, Spain, visited the School of Marine Science and Technology.

At 10:30 a.m. on June 18th, invited by professor Li Huiping, Professor Juan j. Rodriguez Andina of University of Vigo delivered an academic report entitled " Embedded Systems and Computational Intelligence Techniques for Instrumentation and Industrial Control " in room 201 of the School of Marine Science and Technology. This report was presided over by professor Li Huiping, and relevant teachers and graduate students of our school attended the lecture.

Juan j. Rodriguez Andina first introduced the basic situation of the University of Vigo. Then, professor Juan j. Rodriguez Andina introduced the application of computer intelligence technology in medical treatment, mobile robot and manufacturing industry on the premise of providing small, portable and cost-effective embedded system.

In view of the hot issues in the report, professor Juan j. Rodriguez Andina discussed with teachers and students. Finally, professor Juan j. Rodriguez Andina gave a detailed demonstration of the application of robots and manufacturing processes through various experiments on video.


About the speaker:

Juan J. Rodriguez-Andina is since 2016 Vice President for Conference Activities of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. In 2013-2015 he was the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine, one of the top JCR journals in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He received the M.Sc. degree from the Technical University of Madrid, Spain, in 1990, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Vigo, Spain, in 1996, both in electrical engineering. He is currently with the Department of Electronic Technology, University of Vigo. In 2010-2011 he was a Visiting Professor at the ADAC Laboratory, ECE Department, North Carolina State University, USA. His research interests include intelligent sensors and the implementation of complex control and processing algorithms in embedded platforms. Dr. Rodriguez-Andina has authored over 170 journal and conference articles, and holds several Spanish, European, and US patents.
