From April 25th to May 2nd, the delegation of NPU visited the United States and Canada to recruit high-level talents. They successfully held six presentation meetings and round-table conferences in Chicago and Toronto, and met with a group of famous overseas experts, outstanding alumni and leaders of overseas consulate. Abroad have listed workstations for overseas talents in Toronto. On top of these, they established the overseas talent station in Toronto.
On April 26th and 27th, US local time, the delegation organized four talent recruitment talks and round-table meetings at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the Northwestern University of the United States, and the Chinese Consulate General in Chicago. The recruiting team of NPU introduced the school, discipline, research platform, academic atmosphere, talents policy, salary, as well as working conditions.The supporting policies such as “Thousands Talents Program” and “NPU Aoxiang Overseas Plan” were emphasized. Award receivers of “Thousands Youth Talents Program” in the delegation shared their work experience and growth experience in NPU. The four events attracted nearly 200 experts and scholars. After in-depth discussions and exchanges, more than 40 talents achieved initial intent of joining or collaboration with NPU. The delegation also attended the “2017 National Outstanding Scholarship Award Ceremony” organized by the Education office of Chinese Consulate General in Chicago.
In Toronto, the recruitment group visited Chinese Consulate General on April 29th, 2018, and received a warm welcome from Counselor Qunyi Zhang. On behalf of NPU, Academican Wei Huang expressed appreciation to the support from Chinese Consulate General in Canada, and motivation in promoting international collaboration, building talents platform and attracting more talents. Then, the two parties have reached a consensus in terms of future cooperation.
In the afternoon of April 29th, the recruitment group met the NPU alumnus and granted “the Overseas Talents Station in Toronto”. Wei Huang introduced NPU’s development and policies. He said that NPU’s core strategy is talents strategy, in order to achieve “together with the world of excellence”. He hoped that alumnus would support the school’s development and also build “NPU brand” to increase world influence. Besides, he invited all alumnus to come back to school attending the 80th anniversary. Toronto is the fourth overseas talents station of NPU followed by Sydney, Melbourne and Silicon Valley.
Vice president Wei Huang visited University of Toronto on May 1st, 2018. First of all, He met Ted Sargent, the vice president of the University of Toronto. Wei Huang introduced the advantage of NPU in the area of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the newly in-development Tai Cang Campus. Then, Ted Sargent hoped that two universities would have a cooperation in Flexible Electronic and build a research center together. Finally, they visited laboratory and had an academic exchange and communication.
This recruitment activity is an important action for NPU to recruit global talents, strengthen international cooperation and exchanges, expand international influence，and accelerate the development of “Double First-Rate” and the strategy of “Reinforcing University with Talented People”. NPU will adopt a variety of forms of international cooperation and exchange to create a more effective overseas talent introduction and lay a solid talent base for "Double First-rate". The recruitment team consists of persons from School of Aeronautical , School of Astronautical , School of Marine Science and Technology, School of Electronics and Information, High-level Talents Office, Graduate School, Office of International Cooperation and other related personnel.
